Greetings Earthlings,
I took a couple of days off to mull over a couple of things.
The little voices in my head told me that I should post the following to you kind folk here at the Forum. Don't ask me why, my job is to obey without asking any silly questions. The more observant of you may soon notice that many of the words in this post are underlined. Each underlined word is a link to some other location in cyberspace. If you don't believe me, try clicking on one of them.
Now, I must confess this idea is hardly original. I shamelessly pinched it from a page called 'Light at the edge of creation'. I hope they don't mind. They look like the kind of folk who would be more into forgiveness than the concept of ownership.
I might also point out that some of the links are somewhat random in their behaviour (for some unknown reason that seems to appeal to me
). They will take you to a random site in a webring or in the case of the Elias material it is a random quote. To see what I mean, click on the word 'Elias' in the previous sentence. Then click on it a few more times. Nifty, hey! Enjoy.
I might also point out that the most interesting link(s) may well be attached to the most seemingly mundane words such as 'and'. bearing in mind that words like 'interesting' and 'mundane' represent judgements in the mind of the beholder.
If you happen to find anything in these words & links that you happen to disagree with, just let it go. Reality is an interpretation.
Enough preliminaries. Okay. Here's a few of the things I have scribbled down onto various pieces of paper over the last couple of days ...
A couple of nights ago I was curled up in my bed on a chilly night (it is winter here in Australia). It was dark. In that twilight zone between wakefulness and sleep, my thoughts wandered a little and I let them wander. My thoughts turned to Boo as they sometimes do. I suddenly realised how silly I have been and I started to remember some of the things I have seen. After a while, I pictured him/her bathed in a warm, loving, golden light. I soon noticed that my brain had calmed to an absolute standstill and I was aware of a vastness that is beyond the power of mere words to adequately describe.
I realised, in that moment, that in our everyday lives , our minds are like playful young puppies. We shouldn't be angry or surprised if they sometimes misbehave. I also realised that we all tend to suffer from a kind of false memory syndrome (more on this later).
I also realised that certain people on this planet may well be manifesting certain behavioural & personality tendencies precisely so that the rest of us may have an unparalleled opportunity to practice unconditional acceptance and nonjudegement. I'll let you in on a little secret. I myself have, on occasion, manifested behaviours which could easily be interpreted as extremely obnoxious. :) After all, if we all behaved like saints all the time, the word forgiveness would cease to have any real meaning.
I suddenly saw visions of ducks floating serenely on ponds as my mind wandered back to a post somebody made earlier this year (or possibly late last year) about opinions and how most of God's creatures seem to function perfectly well without the capacity to form and defend personal opinions about reality. Could it be that animals are amongst our finest spiritual teachers precisely because they don't speak. {I almost said they 'can't speak', but that would be rather presumptuous of me, wouldnt it} So the next time I'm tempted to take any of my opinions too seriously, I will imagine those ducks floating on their ponds. That should do the trick, more often than not.
I briefly toyed with the idea of making 'link of the day' into 'link of the moment, or 'link of the nanosecond', or at the other end of the scale, 'link of the millenium'
The following untitled poem popped into my head as I drifted a little closer to a dreamlike state ...
Opinions are flawed
Opinions are flimsy
Clinging to any
Is so very silly
Taking them seriously
Can make life chillyI also had a few more thoughts about those who feel a need to insult others and how often it backfires. That's the way karma works. Whatever you send out will return to you one day, one way of another. I know this from direct experience. I used to harbour such dark thoughts about the other human inhabitants of this little planet. I'm so glad I don't indulge in such nonsense anymore. :) The following mantra slowly drifted across my conscious awareness: "My life is a crunchy assortment of moments and experiences which can never be fully explained or described. I'm okay with that."
For some reason, a brief memory whizzed past. It was about a recent episode of Dr Katz, Professional Therapist, where one of the characters says that when he is bored, he likes to amuse himself by starting up conversations with perfect strangers. But to make it more interesting, he would start in the middle of the conversation rather than at the beginning. :)
I also had a couple more thoughts about that recent 'link of the day' where the guy advised readers to just 'let it go' if they encountered anything they disagreed with. I know where he;s coming from. I also have no remaining interest in conflict or defending a point-of-view. The things we think and the opinions we cling to are not the truth. They are merely the flotsam & jetsam that drifts aimlessly around on the ocean of our mind. We pay way to much attention to these floating, drifting phenomena and we lend them way too much importance. At least, that's my opinion. Yours may vary. If so, chalk it up to experience.
At the risk of really labouring the analogy, flotsam & jetsam only seem important while you are skimming across the surface. Most of our interactions with each other tend to occur at this surface level of personality-behaviour-opinions-physical appearance etc. So we do tend to focus much of our attention on the differences which manifest at this surface level.
Just now, as I was transcribing these scribbles, I happened to turn on the radio (don't ask me why - the radio has never personally harmed me or even called me nasty names). Anyway, they were talking about the lyrics of one of John Lennon's songs, 'How'. So naturally I plugged a few choice words into my favourite search engine.
Note: The ideas expressed in this post belong to me and the little voices in my head. You may not incorporate them into your own personal consciousness without the explicit permission of myself or one of my doctors. Fortunately, such permission will be granted upon donation of $1000 to your favourite charity. (My personal favourite is here but your experience may vary). You may however use these ideas for a 30-day obligation-free home trial. At the end of that time period, you must pay for them or uninstall them from your memory. Our Thought Police will investigate any breach of these conditions. They will leave no stone unturned in their efforts (I've heard they like to gaze at the underneath of stones to get their inspiration. Whatever gets you through the night, I suppose. It's not up to me to make any judgement about such things.)
If you find anything in this post which you perceive to be untrue or insane or disturbing or whatever, try to bear in mind the following: I just post whatever nonsense happens to pop into my cotton-pickin mind when I am sitting here at my keyboard. If anyone takes what I say seriously, they may need to seek professional help. :)
P.S. Here is an elephant stamp for the first forum participant who succcessfully clicks on all these links and judges none of them and then sends his/her appreciation to me telepathically. (I'm usually home in the evenings and that's when I'm most generally receptive to such transmissions. Note: Melbourne, Australia is about 10 hours of Greenwhich Mean Time, so you might want to bear this in mind. Also, this week there's an interesting episode of Voyager starting around midnight on Wednesday, so try to reach me during the adverts, if you wouldn't mind. Or leave a brief message with my K9 answering service.)
{Free meditation tip: Click on all these links, then when you are all snug & curled up in your bed tonight and just about to nod off, just see how many of them spring to mind. You might feel like asking yourself why it is that some of them seem more 'memorable' and appear more prominently in your own personal individual memory. You might wonder why you personally respond 'better' to some of these links than to otters. (I might have used the word 'differently' rather than 'better' in that last sentence, since the word 'better' represents a judgement) Sit back (figuratively) and watch these memories as they bubble up from who-knows-where and then slowly fade. You might like to ask what is memory anyway. Contemplate what life might be like as a goldfish with a memory span of just five seconds. Ask yourself who the **** worked that one out anyway and how they did it. If, having read this post several times, you feel that I may be slowly losing my tenuous grip on reality, you might like to say a little prayer for me. It's your call.}
Namaste. I think I'll go have a nap now. Wake me up if/when this place gets really interesting.
